The Library of Congress was one of our favorite places in DC. We loved it all but this was the best. We almost didn't go here. It was our last day and we were walking down towards the Capital and passed the Library of Congress. We only had a few hours so we had to choose between walking around the Capital or going in here. We are so glad we chose to go in. We actually were able to go on a guided tour which we highly recommend to do because there is more to it all then just what you see. The building and architecture were incredible. Each mural, sculpting, saying, every corner of this building has some meaning to it. I wish we had more to time to learn all about it. As you walk into the building you come into this grand foyer with two staircases going up on each side. On the sides of the staircases are these babies sculpted in marble. Each baby represents a job or hobby. Some were hunters, artists, scholars, etc. Then they were connected by a vine of fruit which represents the fruits of their labors. This building was the most beautiful one we saw in DC.
