Hofuf, Saudi Arabia

Saudi has some interesting places to visit.  We took a day to drive to Hofuf, which is about two hours from where we live.  We went with some friends of ours to just see a different part of Saudi.  We first stopped at the goat and sheep markets.  It was just basically several goat and sheep farms.  The people were stopping our car as we drove down the road.  Not sure if they were wanting us to stop and buy a sheep or were just curious to see westerner's.
It is a very common site once you are out of the city to see camels just walking along the road.  They even will just walk right in the middle of the road and we all have to stop and wait for them.

We then stopped at Ibrahim Palace in Hofuf.  It was built in 963 AH which is around 1555 AD.  The palace is now a historical site.  It is surrounded by a wall which makes it look like a fort.  Inside is a large courtyard, Mosque and then the residence.

We then drove to Al-Gara Mountain in Hofuf.  There were many caves and crevices to explore with some crazy rock formations.

The Al Hasa oasis in Hofuf is believed to be the largest oasis in the world with over 3 million palm trees that produce nearly half a million tons of dates per year.
