Christmas in Europe - Day 2 - Romania

Nicole and Coree

The next morning we woke up early to catch the train into the Transylvanian Mountains to a small village called Sinai where we planned 5 days of skiing and playing in the mountains.

Gavin and Vika

Vika was all smiles

Jonny

This is what you start to do on a long train ride, take pictures of anything you find cool.

You can tell Nicole was a little bored, she took a picture of her tights.

Finally some snow, but not enough to actually ski here.
The train ride to Sinai was about three hours.  Once we arrived we found a taxi driver to take us up to our hotel, actually it was a very quaint small hotel, more like a bed a breakfast.  We made friends with the drivers who then became our personal taxi drivers throughout our stay.  They spoke very good English and were willing to arrange transportation for us whenever we needed it.
We were expecting a little more snow.  Our hotel was about 500 meters from the gondola that would take you to the ski lifts but none of the runs were open yet.  BUMMER!  But no fear, Perdeal has plenty of snow and is only about 15 minutes away.

More Christmas Decorations…YEAH!
After settling into our rooms, we walked up the hill toward the gondolas to check out the area.  We were pleasantly surprised to find a very nice restaurant that we could walk to and some snow to play in.

Just nice to see some color and trees.  LOVE WINTER TIME!

Franco with quite the serious look

Marichia Gerber
We didn't bring much ski gear with us because we knew we could get it cheaper here than what we had in Saudi so we planned to take a shopping trip into Brasov.  After waiting and waiting and waiting for the shuttle bus to come that would take us into Brasov, we found our friendly taxi driver who arranged transportation for us to go do some shopping.
Jonny, Marichia, and Franco…waiting, Waiting and WAITING

We had one sleepy little girl on the way to town.
We found some amazing deals and loaded up on winter and ski gear.  We ran into some very bad fog and weather in Brasov, but we still were able to accomplish our mission.

Jonny and Franco's dinner….ALL MEAT!  Two very happy boys.
We went back to our hotel in Sinai to get ready for dinner.  We walked up the hill to the restaurant we found earlier for some amazing food.  So far it has been two amazing days…with more to come.

Now that's a meat lover's meal.
