Just below this is where the actual Declaration of Independance is kept. You can't take pictures with a flash of it so the pictures we took were too dark. This trip made us feel very patriotic and proud to be americans. There were so many sacrifices made for our freedom.
This is as close as we got to the White House. You had to make reservations way in advance in order to go on the white house tour. While we were there one morning we started walking down this area in front of the White House and the police came and made everyone walk down another street. They cleared out the area directly in front of the White House. Then we saw helicopters circling around the area with two of the Presidential helicopters. We had to walk down towards the Washington Monument before we could get in view of the White House and when we did we noticed a large crowd on the lawn right behind where we are standing in the picture above. Then one of the Presidential helicopters landed on the White House lawn. We couldn't see who they were picking up but maybe it was President Bush. It made the morning exciting to speculate.
