Another Thanksgiving overseas. We weren't going to have a big dinner this year because the MS girls VB tournament was that weekend, but our friends the Gerber's persuaded us. They are from South Africa and we had them over for Thanksgiving last year because it was something new to them. They had so much fun last year that they were hoping to join us again. We didn't want to disappoint them so we did it all again. Plus, who wouldn't want to have all that yummy food.
Everything seemed to be going perfect. The turkey was in, rolls made and the pumpkin pies were baking, when panic hit…. Coree opened up the oven to check on the Turkey and saw that the pies had overflowed onto the Turkey. Fortunately, the Turkey was in a bag cooking, but as she was cleaning it up she tasted the pumpkin and about died. There was no sugar in the pies. She forgot that part of the recipe. NOW WHAT! Gavin was out running errands so she called him and had him go find some pies from Tamimi's. Good ole' Tamimi's came through with their wide selection of pies. He came home with two perfect pumpkin pies. Not as good as homemade but good enough. What would Thanksgiving be without pumpkin pies?
All in all, it was a great day of food with some great friends.
